Why Is Everyone Shouting And Hollering About Skipe
I was perusing a Time magazine excerpt Just last week I was browsing through a piece in Home Business magazine and found about this thing I had never heard of before called skype phones. You would be astounded what these two bright sparks did to make themselves a small fortune, they sold it to ebay.So why am I getting so pumped up?.A lot of people call it voip.It is hardly a novel concept telephoning a friend over the world wide web without having to putting your hand in your pocket.
Basically then you will be able to chat to whoever you like whenever you like wherever they are in the world and can even see them if you have skipe and a webcam.Saying that though it is not all plain sailing as a slow connection will be of no use to you.Great pictures are not guaranteed however if your connection is slow.
So I went on Ebay and guess what, they are peddling phones already due to skyp.We think skype has been in existence for a year to date and it is proving hugely popular.
Some of the commercial phone companies are already offering voip phone service..I guess the question remains is it commercially viable. Will the www spell the end for voice over ip
You can be fairly sure that a lot of start ups will enter the market in the hope of making a killing but it has an established foothold. The government will undoubtedly see the potential and want to add money to their coffers by using voip.At the moment skype makes its money by charging people who phone land lines from their pc using it
The next big thing which voip are making a cheeky move towards is the notion of web conferencing. Web video conferencing was a huge idea about 10 years ago but then fell off the radar but now it is making a comeback
My opinion is that audio and video over the web, especially over a broadband connection will gain in popularity. Many people think video and audio will be a passing fad but all the evidence points in the other direction.
Over the next few years we will see whether the free skype download takes off in the way many analysts predict. We'll see in the next few years.
