What will you need to train your dog?

A shipping crate of a size to fit your dog when he/she is an adult. It must be adequate for the dog to stand up comfortably and turn around (for reasons that will turn out to be apparent later on).

Secondly you should choose a suitable “potty area” for your dog.

A "Potty Word or Sign";.

To select preferred snacks for your basset hound puppy is most important.

A cleaner which is non ammonia based for any accident spots. If you can find one that is made specially for pets, they are the best. You must be able to get one which is called "No Go". You can get this from pet stores or catalogs.

You must have a proper schedule to be familiar with your basset hound puppies requirements .

Taking into account all such features the basic thing you should require is time and patience moreso if your dog was obtained at a basset hound rescue.

Stated below defines about crate :-

It would be great to purchase a crate made of moulded fiberglass. As your dog sees the crate he knows that the crate is a room of his very own when you are not with him or not giving your complete attention.

The most significant feature you should consider is to buy a standard sized dog’s crate in order that your dog can move freely in it. It is also essential to purchase a crate divider because it reduces the size of the dog crate's "living" area while house- breaking puppies. It allows just enough room for sleeping.

One of the most significant point is keeping a chart to know the daily routine of your dog. You should note down his playtime, his timing of potty, wake up time etc. so that you don’t face any trouble. All such timings can be recognized to you after observing his regular activities for at least a week.

Your dog can realize his “potty area” if you habitually hold your dog up and take him to the similar place. After potty you should give your dog his preferred snack for example the hot dog or cookies.

It is essential to stay with your dog when you take your dog outside for potty. From the beginning it is significant to teach your dog his “potty time” so that he can understand his perfect timing for potty nothing else.

When your bassett hound tries to understand you choose a proper word for potty for example "Go Potty!" Train your puppy by saying the similar word just as they pee or poop. After they have heard the word perhaps a few dozen times, you can begin using it to encourage them just before they are actually doing their stuff.

Praise your dog when he potties on the designated location. After potty take him inside and give favorite snack to him. It is important to take him outside right after food or playtime. You must repeat this sequence till evening.

I personally don't give food and water after 10:00 p.m. to my dog. This seems to help the pup stay clean throughout the night. At bedtime, move the crate to your bedside. Confirm that your dog is in a draft-free place and has plenty of warm bedding.

(I have found that a cold puppy is soon a "wet" puppy.) Most puppies will settle in comfortably well if they are near your bed. When the puppy wakes up in the morning, he will kick up a fuss to go out. Keep in mind your spot and treats!
